*Kids Class: Kids classes are offered on two locations. Classes taught by Bala at CDO Hawaii Academia are fee based. Classes taught by student volunteers are free at Boys & Girls Club.

*Beginner Class: Beginners (No Belt or Green Belt) are encouraged to take Beginner class on Thursdays.

*Mixed Level Class: Intermediate and Advanced (Green-Yellow belt & up) students are encouraged to take Mixed Level class on Mondays and Wednesdays.

*Music & Dance Class: All levels are welcome to this class. This class will be focused on instruments (berimbau, atabaque, pandeiro, etc.), music (singing / playing together), and Brazilian dance (Maculel, Afro-Dance, Puxada de Rede, Dança de Guerra, Samba, etc.) We may offer Samba class time to time. Please stay informed.

CDO Hawaii Academia 740 Moowaa St, Honolulu, HI 96817 Look for A-1 Auto Repair (yellow sign). If you see the sign, you are at the right spot. The studio is the first unit on your right if you are facing the parking lot. Parking: There are plenty of street parking available after 5:00pm. Please do not park on the adjacent parking lot of the building during the normal business hours (8am - 5pm).

Frequently Asked Questions

• Do I have to be fit to learn Capoeira?

  • No, you will gain an all-around fitness training with us. You will gradually build up your strength, flexibility and techniques as you work through your belts. No matter how old or how fit you are, you can express yourself in Capoeira.

• Do I need experience?

  • There is no need to have martial arts or gymnastics experience. We will start you off with the basic steps then on to more advanced movements when you are ready.

• Do I have to know Portuguese?

  • You don't have to know Portuguese to start. You will gradually learn the language as you progress.

• What should I wear?

  • You can just wear a T-shirt (for women, sports bra is recommended) and a comfortable pants (no jeans or skirts). Please take off any metal access aries (rings, bracelets, ear rings, etc.) for the safety of other students.

• Can I just come and watch?

  • Absolutely.

• I want to try out Capoeira for the first time, but I cannot make it to your beginner class. Can I still come to Mixed Level class?

  • Yes, you can. We will give you some basic movements you can practice at your own pace on the side.
